How to take attendance
Background: A user is automatically marked as present in a group when they log in to a group. If an admin wants to log attendance for users who are not using the platform at the moment or in that space, then they need to manually check them in. Before taking attendance, make sure all users have accounts and are in their relevant groups.
First, navigate to the group admin space by clicking on “Groups” in the left sidebar and then clicking on the group you want to log attendance for.
There are two ways to check users in and log their attendance.
Method 1
- Click on the “Members” tab. Scroll down to the Learners section of this page.
- Check the boxes next to the names you’d like to check in.
- Then click on the drop down menu box to “Select an Action” and click “Check in Selected”
- You will got a pop up that asks you to confirm your choice. Once you confirm, the selected users will be checked in and the time of check in will also be recorded automatically in another tab.
- You can review who has been checked in and at what time under the attendance tab.
Method 2
- Once in the group admin space, navigate to the Attendance tab. ‘
- Make sure the date at the top is the date for which you want to log attendance. It will automatically be set to today’s date but you can always navigate to a different date to add or change attendance.
- You can either Search for a specific user or go down the list which is sorted alphabetically with First and Last name of the user.
-
To check someone in, enter the time of attendance in the “‘Start” box. You can also add in an “end” time if you want to log someone’s total time of attendance. Click on the blue save button at the end of the row.
- A drop down of times in 15 minute increments will pop up when you click on the time text box. You can choose one of those or type in your own time.
- After saving, the box next to the user’s name will turn green. You also have the ability to delete the attendance by clicking on the blue trash can.
